DEREK R. HILL

Production Designer Derek R. Hill grew up in Texas and graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He started his career working in the theater and stage business in the Dallas, Texas area working the Dallas Summer Musicals, the Dallas Opera, and touring as a Lighting Designer for Debbie Reynolds for one season of “Annie Get Your Gun” as well as building scenery for Dallas Stage Scenery and Peter Wolf Designs. 
 

After several years in the stage business, he became involved in the Union side of the business, ultimately becoming the Business Agent of IATSE Local 127. He began his career in the Television and Motion Picture Industry full time in the early 1980’s. The relationships he created as a Set Decorator and Art Director for a number of years with directors like Oliver Stone, Sean Penn and Kevin Costner continue through today as in his career as a Production Designer.

Derek R. Hill earned Emmy Nominations for his work on "Ozark", “House” and “Hatfields & McCoys”. He also earned an ADG Nominations for his work on “Pirates of the Caribbean - Curse of the Black Pearl”, “Community”, “Hatfields & McCoys”, and “Bonnie & Clyde”.

 

Recently, Derek has worked on “The Magnificent Seven”, “The Right Stuff”, and "Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan". He is currently working on Kevin Costner’s feature film series: “Horizon: An American Saga”.

Derek resides in Dallas, Texas area as well as Rancho Mirage, CA. with his wife Candy.
